Wildflowers

I purchased Muse magazine in Colette Paris located along the prestigious road Rue de Saint-Honore, which is also home to Carolina Herrera, Givenchy, YSL and many other high end luxury labels. Muse magazine is a fashionart magazine published in Italy and published quarterly. I love all its extremely natural fashion editorials which normally feature models or even real girls having fun. There is minimal styling and makeup, giving the photos a very spontaneous and unpretentious feel.

I especially enjoyed Tim Barber's photos of Bambi Northwood-Blyth, the natural thick browed beauty from Australia. The photos are lit with natural light and Bambi does not appear to be posing or modeling, but rather, having fun on a downtown US roadtrip. It was refreshing to look at Bambi wearing Prada, Miu Miu, Missoni and Altuzarra and then standing in the setting sun, or on the back of a car, or in a bed of flowers, as these brands are usually positioned as high end for slightly older clientele and styled as such.
And then there is the way these photos are taken - it appears to be taken on a film camera and the colours show up extremely well. There is no photoshop, the photos do not appear polished, but they are some of the best I've seen in a while after all those extremely airbrushed photos.

    




I find that when the photos have been stripped of all the excess frills, such as over styling (layering and piling of accessories), artificial lighting, makeup and set arrangement, it actually shows off the clothes better. All of these are exactly what I wish to wear this summer - neon swimsuits, translucent shirt dresses, chiffon leopard print capes, gingham checkered dresses... All those while sunbathing in a bed of daisies.
